Dave said that his goal is to bring a great performance every single day on his radio show, even if he doesnt feel like it. He does this because he thinks that his listeners deserve that from him. A lot of teachers would do a lot of good for their students if they took this same approach. Some thoughts:
*Teachers should bring their best performance every day because their students deserve it.
*Teaching is like performing. Every time teachers are in class it is like they are on stage. Their students deserve to see their best effort.
*A teacher should do their best to not let a bad mood, lack of energy, or lack of sleep, etc. affect their teaching attitude if at all possible.
*Griping about your problems, days left before the next break or weekend, etc will only bring everyone down. Don't do it around other teachers and definitely don't do it in class. This is not therapy time.
*Sometimes you have to even act like you are in a good mood even when you aren't for the good of the cause.
This is an approach that I have tried to keep in mind on a daily basis since I heard Dave say it. I think this attitude can make a huge difference in the overall atmosphere of a classroom and school. And a positive atmosphere will of course improve those test scores!
