*Forget the old rule about starting mean and then loosening up. It’s ok to smile, have fun, joke, etc. if you have a good discipline plan.
*Be unemotional when implementing consequences. Rely on your consequences to keep order. Not your attitude.
*Avoid a “teacher vs. student” atmosphere. They should feel like you are on their side.
*Avoid the use of sarcasm. Sarcasm is instant negative energy. Makes you sound like you think you are better than they are.
*Have as many or as few rules as you want. Some may be punishable, some not. They may be for minor or major misbehaviors. Just be specific and make sure they are things you will notice.
*Make sure that the severity of your consequences matches the severity of your rules. Don’t try to overkill with your consequences.
