Here is a list of some of the dangers of getting too good/confident in your discipline skills:
*You now get so comfortable that you do not pay as much attention at the beginning of the year to establishing a great discipline program and your students’ behavior inevitably gets worse.
*You get so confident in your discipline program that you start to loosen up your own behavior a little too much because you know that you can always get your students behaving well if you feel like it.
*Your reputation for discipline becomes so great that teachers and administrators are constantly trying to observe you.
*The word gets out about how great your discipline program is and people are constantly harassing you to find out what you are doing. (When this happens, don’t worry—just send them to me!)
Of course, none of these problems are nearly as bad as the problem of having poor discipline skills, so we will just have to live with them!
