One thing that teachers sometimes do when they are feeling less than motivated is to give students free time during class. They may give 30 minutes at the end of the period when work is done, or they may even be tempted to just give an entire free period.
I see two problems with this practice. First, teachers are paid to educate and have a good influence on their students. Excessive free time doesn't exactly fit this requirement. Second, excessive free time gives students too much of an opportunity for mischief. The objective of the teacher may have been to be nice and give the students (and themselves) a break, but the end result can easily result in more stress for the teacher than if a usual lesson were done.
I am not saying that teachers shouldn't have year end parties for their students, or have fun activities on the last day of school. What I am talking about is the time when teachers just sit back and do nothing and let the students hang out. If you are doing this kind of thing in your classes, I challenge you to be better than that. It will probably save you unnecessary stress anyway.
